***How to Obtain a Bursary for Shakesperience
This year we have some bursaries available for students taking the course for credit who demonstrate financial support across the Maple League universities thanks to very generous donors. Sign up now with the following three steps to take advantage of this incredible opportunity to have your fees covered!
1. You must be signed up for Shakesperience as a for-credit student
2. The $1100 fee for the Stratford experience must be paid up-front in order to secure your spot
3. You will be required to write a 500-word essay based on the following prompt (in lieu of a formal application): Take some time to read Dr. Riddell's article "Can Shakespeare Teach Us To Be Better Citizens?" for University Affairs. Pick one (or many) passage(s) where you could say "YES AND," and, imagining that you're having a conversation, tell us what's on your mind! You can answer Dr. Riddell's arguments directly, but you can also discuss other related topics (What does live theatre mean to you? Do you consider yourself a patron of the arts? What do you like about Shakespeare?)
In order to be eligible for a bursary, you must be registered for Shakesperience and submit your essay application to the course's TA Loch Baillie (lbaillie17@ubishops.ca) with the subject line SHAKESPERIENCE ESSAY by April 10, 2023
FAQ: Why must I pay $1100 up front if I'm receiving a bursary? Due to the rules of our major funder, CEWIL, we are not allowed to release any funds to students until after the course is over when the students can provide proof of attendance, travel, and tuition. We are thrilled to be offering a bursary package worth up to $3000 per for-credit student (for Stratford fees, travel, and tuition) – but CEWIL is is a federal funded program with strict oversight.
